King Charles III on Wednesday visited the Kariokor Cemetery.

He had a chat with retired army veterans before presenting them with medals at the intimate ceremony and thanked them for their services.

John Kavai Achaga, retired lands corporal told The Star that he was excited to have spoken to The King.

"He asked me where I come from and I told him I was from Vihiga county. He asked me about my family and I said I have a wife and ten kids," he said excitedly.

Achaga told the King that life was hard as he was battling diseases. "He told me it is a blessing that I am alive"

Achaga was honoured together with four others; Kefa Chajira Chongori, Ezekiel Nyanjo Ganyange, and Samuel Mburia.
