Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has defended his boss William Ruto over criticism that his foreign trips cost the taxpayer more than his predecessor.
Condemning critics, the DP on Thursday said that President William Ruto's foreign trip were bearing fruits in various projects.
"Rais kuna wale wanakupigia kelele ati unaenda nchi za Ng’ambo sijui kufanya nini…Tungetaka kuambiwa matunda ya rais kutembea nchi imepatikana ," he said.
This loosely translates to: President some are making nice about your foreign trips and questioning the agenda..... I want to tell them that the fruits of the President's foreign trips are being actualised.
In addition, Gahchagua urged President Ruto to travel more to any destination where Kenyans would benefit from.
He said the President was elected and given authority to help Kenyans and to improve the economy.
"Ukiona merikani nipenye wakenya watafaidika, paa angani kwa ndege na uende. Those asking should come witness what the president is commissioning," Gachagua said.
"Rais anaenda kazi si kujivinjari.Lazima rais atembeee.Rais, I want to encourage you with your trips because they have put Kenya on the world map," he added.

He termed himself as Kenya’s chief agent and ambassador noting that the development of the country can only be achieved through planning.
Speaking during a church service in Uasin Gishu on Sunday, Ruto said it was through the trips that he has been able to secure several deals in favour of the country.
He for instance noted that his recent visit to Saudi Arabia saw him secure employment slots for 350,000 Kenyans with the bilateral agreement expected to be signed in the next three weeks.
Ruto disclosed he would be travelling back for the signing of the agreement in the next three weeks. He said Kenyan workers had an upper hand in securing jobs in foreign countries.
