ODM leader Raila Odinga has condemned the ongoing attacks on Palestine by the Israeli government.

Raila said that innocent children and women have lost their lives to Israeli bombs since the invasion began.

The Azimio chief was speaking in Mombasa during the inaugural Mombasa Luo Cultural Festival held at the Mkomani ASK grounds.

“We must condemn in the strongest terms possible the brutality in which the innocent children and women of Palestine are being brutalized by the regime of Netanyahu”

“It is inhuman, it is primitive, it is brutal, and we condemn it,” said Odinga.

He called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop the killings of innocent Palestinian children and women.

Raila at the same time called on President William Ruto not to be silent and be misled to condemn the Palestinian people.

“Don’t be silent in the face of inhumanity that is being meted against the people of Palestine. The Kenyan government must stand with the oppressed and the people who are being brutalized, otherwise, history shall condemn you,” Odinga said.

In a statement calling for a ceasefire, released by President Ruto on October 9, he said Kenya would stand with Israel.

"Kenya joins the rest of the world in solidarity with the State of Israel and unequivocally condemns terrorism and attacks on innocent civilians in the country," he said.

The president urged the international community to mobilise to bring the perpetrators, organizers, financiers, sponsors, supporters and enablers of these reprehensible criminal acts of terrorism to account and speedily bring them to justice.

He also noted that Kenya is profoundly disturbed that civilians continue to be intentionally targeted in this conflict, as a consequence of which the number of casualties continues to rise.

On Friday, Israel PM Netanyahu said that there would be no temporary ceasefire with Hamas in Gaza until all Israeli hostages were released.

Israeli airstrikes have so far killed more than 9,000 people.

The Israeli government launched attacks on Gaza following the October 7 attacks on southern Israel which left about 1,400 people dead and more than 200 people taken hostage.
