The Kenya National Highways Authority has temporarily closed the Garissa - Daadab (A3) Road at Saretho Town.

The Road is 30 kilometres from Daadab Town and 60 kilometres from Modika Town.

In a statement, the Authority said the Garissa - Daadab (A3) Road will remain closed until rainwater subsides.

"This has been occasioned by the ongoing heavy rains that have led to flooding water crossing the A3 Road extensively eroding the existing road edges and the murram at the approaches to culverts hence making it very dangerous for road users," KeNHA said.

KeNHA advised Kenyans to avoid travelling at night, driving on off-road pathways and driving in moving sheet water to avoid potential accidents and injuries.

The Authority, led by the North Eastern Region engineers and inspectors is working to ensure restoration of transport.

The public has been urged to be patient as the water subsides and any reinstatement works carried out to ensure traffic movement within the affected section resumes.

The Kenya Meteorological Department warned of heavy rainfall in most parts of the country from November 2023.

In the latest forecast, Met also said it anticipated a reduction in spatial coverage and rainfall amounts during the latter half of the forecast period.

The weatherman said isolated storms may occur in specific regions, including the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, and the Coast.

"In these areas, moderate average maximum daytime temperatures ranging between 20°C and 30°C are anticipated," the forecast shows.

"Similarly, moderate average minimum night-time temperatures between 10°C and 20°C are expected."
