Judiciary transfers 31 judges of Lands division

The Judiciary has effected the transfer of 31 Judges of the Environment and Land Court ahead of the start of the Climate Justice Conference on November 25.

The conference will be held from November 25 to 29 at the Moi University Annex Campus in Eldoret.

The ELC plays a key role in climate change mitigation efforts by adjudicating climate change-related cases such as those involving pollution; enforcing environmental laws and regulations; resolving land disputes and promoting public interest litigation to protect the environment and address climate change issues.

Through public interest litigation, the ELC enables communities affected by climate change to access justice through legal representation or self-representation. 

In the changes announced Friday, Lady Justice Theresa Murigi has been moved from the Makueni ELC station to the Milimani Law Courts while Lady Justice Anne Nyukuri has been moved from Machakos to Kakamega. 

Justice David Mwangi has been transferred from Milimani to Kajiado.

Justice Anthony Kaniaru has been transferred from Embu to Kitui, while Lady Justice Gacheru has been moved from Murangá to Narok.

Justice Emmanuel Washe has been moved to Eldoret from Kilgoris court station,

Justice Elijah Obaga of Eldoret now moves to Makueni, Nanyuki’s Kossy Bor has been transferred to Embu, while Christopher Nzili of Embu has been moved to Kitale. 

Kitale’s Justice Fred Nyagaka has been transferred to Homa Bay, while Lady Justice Jacqueline Anne Mogeni of Milimani has gone to Thika.

Lady Justice Jane Onyango of Eldoret has also been moved to Thika while Justice Christine Ochieng has been moved from Machakos to Nairobi.

Justice Bernard Eboso of Thika’s new jurisdiction is now Meru/Chuka, Lady Justice Lucy Mbugua of Milimani has gone to Nanyuki while Mombasa’s Nelly Matheka has been transferred to Machakos.

In the changes, Justice Maxwell Gicheru moves from Kajiado to Murangá, Justice Anne Koros from Siaya to Machakos, Joseph Mugo from Nyamira to Nyandarua, while Lady Justice Lilian Gathoni has moved from Kitui to Nyeri.

Other changes are as follows: Justices Yuvinalis Angima (Nyandarua-Mombasa); Charles Yano (Meru/Chuka-Eldoret); James Olola (Nyeri-Mombasa); Grace Kemei (Thika - Milimani); Dalmas Omondi (Kakamega - Nyamira); George Ongondo (Homa Bay - Kapsabet); Charles Mbogo (Narok – Milimani); Oguttu Mboya (Milimani – Meru/Isiolo); Lucas Leperes naikuni (Mombasa – Kwale); Michael Ngolo (Kapsabet – Kilgoris); Addraya Dena (Kwale – Siaya).
