Kisii County Assembly ODM Ward Reps want MPs to stop meddling in County politics.

They were especially told to end their constant rant on Governor Simba Arati.

The Ward Reps took issue with Tuesday outbursts by the three politicians against the County boss terming them unfortunate.

The legislators were accused of misusing their political positions tarnishing the governor's name when they had already failed in their mandate.

“They claim they want to unite the community yet they have never convened any meeting with us to discuss anything,” the MCAs said in a statement.

The statement was read out by MCAs Wycliffe Siocha (Ichuni), Victor Omwando (Riana) and Lillian Nyakerario (nominee)

They described the constant attack on Arati by the four leaders as ill-motivated and laced with criminal intent.

"We will not allow our Governor to be demeaned any further," said Siocha.

The told the MPs to stop his lamentation on their behalf.

"Contrary to the claims that we are being mistreated by the governor, we have not heard anybody else complain on our behalf, "they stated

"We therefore ask the four leaders to respect the stature of the MCAs and concentrate on their oversight role in the national government."

Instead of targeting our Governor with vitriol, added Siocha, let them talk to his boss William Ruto on how best they should address the skyrocketing cost of living.

The MCAs also told the four leaders to stop peddling lies that failure to pay county pending bills was the cause of the low circulation of money in the county.

They accused the four of having vested interests and hiding behind the veil of threats to tarnish the name of Arati.

"We know some of them contractors who had dubious deals with the former county government. They are fighting because the governor has thwarted their schemes," added Siocha.

The charge from the Ward Reps comes a day after a press conference in Nairobi where they accused Governor Arati of fanning animosity and violence in Kisii.

Majority Leader Henry Moracha said the Governor was doing all he could to leverage youth.

“Already he encouraged youths to form savings and credit cooperative societies to empower themselves but the leaders are calling them criminal gangs,” Siocha stated.

Omwando told the leaders to stop shielding suspects in murder cases and stop claiming that the governor ferries goons to functions, saying, it undermines the intelligence of Kisii residents.

“We cannot allow the governor to be intimidated. Those who want to bring the Motion should do it quickly and we show them dust” Moracha said.
