President William Ruto and his cabinet have begun a two-day retreat in Nairobi to assess the progress of his administration in the first one year in office
Cabinet members, principal secretaries, and advisors will all be in attendance, with each ministry expected to outline its hits and misses for the year and discuss how they can improve to deliver on their campaign promises.
The Star has established that the choice of the venue, Edge Convention Center in South B was aimed at cutting down travel costs and accommodation for the state officials.
The first kind of such meeting took place in January in Nanyuki.
The retreat comes at a time when there are cries by Kenyans over the skyrocketing cost of living.
The cost of living has surged significantly with fuel and food prices escalating.
The economic strain has placed a heavy burden on many Kenyans where most of them cannot afford the three meals on the table.
President William Ruto on November 14 said the ongoing war in Ukraine has caused a dire situation in Africa.
"Prices on commodities have escalated and as a result of the war, we have a serious situation of escalating prices of food prices," he said.
“This has resulted in the high cost of living with very detrimental effects on people, especially those vulnerable."
Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura on Wednesday revealed that the government is doing all that is possible to bring down the cost of living so as to give people a comfortable and affordable way of life.
