Former Chief Administrative Secretary nominee Dennis Itumbi has been forced to clarify that he does not know who the killers of Meru blogger Daniel Muthiani alias Sniper are.
His remarks come amidst calls from various quotas seeking justice over Sniper's murder.
Itumbi has also been among people who have strongly advocated for all that can be possibly done to bring the perpetrators to justice.
In a statement on Sunday morning, Itumbi affirmed that those involved in the blogger's murder will face justice.
He insisted that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is doing a professional job and justice will be served.
"Relax good people. I do not know the killers of Sniper, but whoever it is - they will not get away. @DCI_Kenya is doing a thorough and professional job. Justice will be served hot. Hii ujinga na ufala will be dealt with. We will not negotiate our right to expression!" Itumbi said on X.
His clarification followed an earlier post on Saturday, where Itumbi insisted that they will not relent on the quest to find justice for the slain Sniper.
He said no stone will be left unturned until his killers are known.
"On the issue of #JusticeForSniper - we will not relent, waiver, or slow down. On this one the many stones that must be turned will be rolled over and over again, we will check the earth below them and, if need be, break them into pieces until the killers are known! I repeat, there exists a right to OFFEND, DISTURB, and even to get it WRONG. You can not kill us because you DISAGREE with what we tweet! Apaana! Noooo!!"
Following the post, some of X users claimed that the blogger's killers could be people within the government.
Sniper disappeared on December 2, before his body was discovered on December 16.
An autopsy conducted on Friday by government pathologist Johansen Oduor at the Marimanti Level 4 Hospital Mortuary showed that Sniper died of strangulation.
He also had fractured ribs and showed injuries on his head which suggested that he was strangled before being thrown into a river.
