President William Ruto now says that he will make sure that corruption is eliminated across all levels of government.
Speaking on Wednesday, Ruto insisted that he will provide Kenyans with a leadership that will transform the country for the better.
He noted that three things have for many years held Kenya hostage and derailed it from developing but soon that will be a thing of the past.
The President said the issues - incompetent leadership, vested interests and corruption - must be dealt with decisively, for Kenya to move forward.
"Three things are taking us backward and have held our country hostage and have caused the transformation of Kenya to be delayed. Incompetent leadership, vested interests and corruption and we must deal decisively with all of them.
"I have said we are going to provide leadership that will transform our country. We are going to deal with vested interests that are sabotaging our progress and we are going to eliminate corruption whether it is in the judiciary, executive, or legislature so that we can get our country moving," Ruto said during the laying of foundation for Nanyuki affordable housing project.
The head of state added that he is also ready to fight the corrupt individuals who have been holding the country, hostage, because of their interests.
Ruto said he intends to uplift the lives of Kenyans who are at the bottom by providing housing and creating employment, but a few individuals do not want that.
"Kenya imecheleweshwa na uongozi, imecheleweshwa na ufisadi na ndio nataka nihakikishie wakenya mambo ya uongozi mimi niko tayari kutoa uongozi ambao itapeleka Kenya mbele. Niko tayari kupigana na wafisadi, wakora na matapeli. Hao watu wote ambao wameenda kotini kuzui vitu."
This loosely translates to, "Kenya has been delayed by leadership and graft and that is why I assure Kenyans that I am ready to give a leadership that will move Kenya forward. I am ready to fight the corrupt and conmen and all the individuals who have gone to court to stop development."
"We intend to make sure that those who are paying rent and living in slums, they too can be homeowners," Ruto added.
