Former Busia governor Sospeter Ojaamong has joined UDA.
Ojaamong made the declaration before President William Ruto at Machakus Primary School.
Ruto is in Teso to attend an interdenominational prayer meeting as well as launch development projects before addressing rallies in Malaba town and Angurai.
Ojaamong during the declaration said working under government is a better decision than any leader can ever make.
"From today I've joined UDA and I expect to be in government fully," Ojaamong said.
"The best way to get better development projects is by supporting the government."
Ojaamong has been a staunch ODM member and supporter of ODM leader Raila Odinga having been elected Amagoro MP for two terms before being elected as governor for another two terms.
When he was in elective politics, he was a life member until two weeks ago when he hinted that he may join UDA.
Sports CS Ababu Namwamba lauded Ojaamong for the decision he made to abandon ODM.
"Your Excellency Ojaamong has made a good decision. Let's support him as he joins the UDA house," Ababu said.
The former governor made the declaration amid applause from residents who appeared to have endorsed his decision.
