President William Ruto has arrived in Teso where he is currently attending an interdenominational prayer meeting at Machakus Primary School.

The commander in chief who is vising Busia for the third time since he assumed the presidency from his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta is accompanied by leaders from across the political divide.

After the prayer session, the Head of State is scheduled to officially launch the multi-million Malaba-Malakisi water and sewerage project at Amoni before addressing a rally in Malaba town.

Thereafter, he will cruise to Ang’urai where he will address another rally before touring Kolanya Girls National School, according to Teso North MP Oku Kaunya.

Among leaders accompanying the President include Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, Principal Administrative Secretary in the Executive Office of the President Arthur Osiya, Governors Paul Otuoma (Busia) and Kenneth Lusaka (Bungoma).

Others are Sports CS Ababu Namwamba, Deputy Governor Arthur Odera and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises PS Susan Mangeni.

MPs Oku Kaunya (Teso North), Mary Emase (Teso South), Charles Gimose (Hamisi constituency), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Beatrice Adagala (Vihiga woman representative), Janet Sitienei (Turbo), Phelix Odiwuor popularly known as Jalango (Langata) and John Waluke (Sirisia) are also present.

Ruto arrived in Teso to a rousing welcome from residents full of expectations as they looked forward to the president unveiling strategic development projects at the border county.

The projects cut across road tarmacking, water, and ICT to facilitate the advancement of youth online enterprises, education, and health.

Residents also expect a promise from the president that the economy will soon stabilise as product prices fall.

The visit is a promise Ruto made in May last year when he attended an interdenominational prayer meeting at Busia stadium where he said he would return to Busia in early 2024 to launch strategic development projects.

Security has been heightened in Teso as the Head of State kicks off his tour.
