President William Ruto has spoken on the ongoing battle in Mt Kenya over succession politics.
Speaking on Tuesday in Gilgil, Nakuru, the President said leaders should focus on developing the country in their various roles.
Ruto said it is an insult to Kenyans for leaders to debate 2027 succession politics.
"Starting from me, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to all the leaders, you have given us a chance to work for you. I want to assure you that we shall do the work diligently. It will be a great problem if we do not deliver," he said.
The President added that his administration has a big Agenda to fulfil, transform the country, deal with unemployment and focus on agriculture for food production.
He said leaders should not waste time by engaging in politics instead of focusing on what they were elected to do.
"I want to ask all leaders, it will be an insult to Kenyans. Let us concentrate on delivering on the assignment given to us by Kenyans on matters of transformation of Kenya, how to create jobs, how to expand food production and ensure that Kenyans have access to universal health," the President said.
"I ask all leaders to focus attention on the delivery of the assignment given to us by Kenyans especially leaders in Kenya Kwanza and UDA."
Ruto asked leaders in Kenya Kwanza and UDA to step down from any present and future contestation.
"Riggy G and I have a plan and we said we shall mentor the young men, but they should move with caution. They should not push us too much because if they do so, they will spoil things. To the young leaders, do not be in a hurry, we are ready to mentor you. We are different," he said.
He called on all the leaders to work together to deliver to Kenyans on the Plan.
The remarks follow a move by a section of Mt Kenya MPs to back Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro as a possible 2027 presidential running mate.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Saturday asked Mt Kenya leaders to unite, shun divisive politics and promote greater participation of the youth in productive socio-economic activities.
The Deputy President said there was a political scheme to divide the Mt Kenya region voting bloc.
He, however, said the schemers would not succeed in their mission as he asked the leaders to focus on the development and socio-economic growth of the people.
"I urge the leaders to be united and focused. Those scheming to divide the region should know that the people of Mt Kenya are intelligent and are aware of what is happening. Those seeking to divide us are enemies of the region. Our relevance in national leadership lies in our unity. We know what disunity and divisive politics did us in the 1992 and 1997 elections," he said.
He was speaking at Kiambu Golf Club on Saturday night during a Thanksgiving ceremony for golf champion Michael Karanga.
