Kikuyu elders have urged Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro to set aside their differences for the sake of unity.
Kikuyu Council of Elders national chairman Wachira Kiago said divisions in Mt Kenya are not good.
He said external forces might be seeking to undermine Gachagua and create instability in the political landscape.
Kiago said the council is ready to reconcile the two leaders.
“We are ready to broker the truce between Gachagua and Ndindi Nyoro, but we would wish to request them to form a singular coalition to unite the community,” he said.
Kiago said the DP should be respected as he guides the community on the political path to take.
The remarks follow the move by a section of Mt Kenya MPs to back MP Nyoro as a possible 2027 presidential running mate.
President William Ruto on Tuesday cautioned leaders against engaging in succession politics.
He told elected leaders to focus on delivering services and implementing the Kenya Kwanza manifesto.
"The Deputy President and I have a plan. We said we will mentor these young leaders in UDA. They, however, need to slow down,” Ruto said.
“I want to ask them to step down any contestation, present or future, so we can work together and focus on service delivery to the people of Kenya."
Gachagua recently asked Mt Kenya leaders to unite, shun divisive politics and promote greater participation of the youth in productive socioeconomic activities.
