Woman recovers 'husband's skull' from Lake Victoria

The skull is believed to be of a man allegedly devoured by a crocodile in March 2023.

A human skull that is suspected to be of a man who died an year ago was on Wednesday afternoon fished out of Lake Victoria.

The skull is believed to be that of the late James Nindo Obiero who was allegedly devoured by a crocodile in March 2023 in Kabuong village.

"It was reported by one Magdalene Anyango Nindo that today she received information from fishermen that they had retrieved a skull from Lake Victoria believed to belong to her husband, one James Nindo Obiero," Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said.

Police officers rushed to the scene and found the said skull on the shores of Lake Victoria where the fishermen had dropped it, Kimaiyo explained.

The skull was moved to Madiany SubCounty Hospital Mortuary pending identification and DNA confirmation.
