A police officer has been arrested in the ongoing crackdown conducted by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
The traffic cop was arrested over bribery allegations.
The cop is accused of collecting bribes along the Kitale-Kapenguria road.
During the arrest, a group of unknown people allegedly attempted to interfere with the arrest in defence of the officer, but the Commission officers repulsed them.
The officers based in the North Rift regional office were assisted by other members of the public.
Confirming the arrest, the anti-corruption body said the officer is facing many complaints from the area residents.
The Commission is pursuing other police officers in the area who evaded the operation.
On Tuesday, EACC arrested two police officers at a police base within Bungoma County for alleged bribery.
They were accused of demanding a bribe to facilitate the release of a motorcycle they had impounded at the base on claims that it was stolen property.
The anti-corruption commission has been conducting the operations in the wake of an increase in cases of extortion.
EACC has since urged Kenyans to report the cases as it called on police commanders to take up the responsibility of ensuring that officers under their command refrain from such acts which are not only criminal but also immoral.
