Jowie Irungu couldn't contain his emotions as the High Court delivered a guilty verdict in Monica Kimani's murder case.

Additionally, the court revoked Jowie's bond following his conviction.

After the judge said she had cancelled his bond, he looked down and was seen trying to fight back tears.

Justice Grace Nzioka stated that Irungu would remain in custody until March 8, 2024.

"I am cancelling your bond. You will be held in custody until the 8th of March," Justice Nzioka said.

Justice Nzioka said Jowie stole the ID two days prior, armed himself with a gun, carried a kanzu and put it over his clothes, gained access to the apartment of the deceased and murdered Monica Kimani.

"Left the house, changed his clothes and eventually went home and burnt the clothes which he wore during the commission of the offence," she said.

"All this evidence taken leaves a strong conclusion that Irungu murdered Monica Kimani."

Nzioka said the prosecution has proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Irungu murdered Kimani.

Jowie, however, through his advocate Professor Nandwasaid said he will be appealing against the decision of the High Court.

Nandwa said even though they respect the Judge, they disagree with her finding.

Nandwa said it was unfortunate that the trial ended as it did.
