Kiambu man, lover hospitalised after attempted murder and suicide

The boyfriend is suspected to have tried to kill the girlfriend before he also attempted suicide.

CRIME SCENE

A 30-year-old man and his 20-year-old girlfriend are admitted at the Kiambu Level Five Hospital after an attempted murder and suicide incident.

The boyfriend is suspected to have tried to kill the girlfriend before he also attempted suicide.

Outgoing Kiambu police commander Michael Muchiri said the woman was rushed to the hospital with multiple stab wounds in the neck and hands.

It was then officials rushed back to the house where they found the man in the house near  St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiambu.

Police said they found a pool of blood in the rented house and battery sulphuric acid spilt on the floor.

A bloodstained knife and a plastic container of battery acid suspected to have been consumed by the suspect were found on the floor.

The man was found on the bed unconscious and rushed to the hospital too.

Muchiri said both are receiving treatment in serious condition.

He said they are waiting for them to stabilize before they interrogate them as part of the probe into the saga.

Police said they are yet to establish what motivated the incident.

They said they are investigating attempted murder and suicide.

Meanwhile, a train hit and injured a 29-year-old woman in the Donholm area, Nairobi.

The passenger train was racing from Embakasi to the Central Railway Station when it hit the woman as she crossed the railway line in the Donholm area.

Police said the woman who is believed to have intended to board the train sustained injuries in the head.

She also had injuries on the right leg and right hand.

The victim was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital, where she was admitted in a serious condition after the Monday incident.

Officials have urged caution among pedestrians crossing the railway line as the locomotives approach.

Such accidents have been common on the railway lines amid a campaign to address the same.
