EALA MP Maina Karobia now says that the government has created 120,000 jobs for the youth.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Karobia highlighted that the Kenya Kwanza government is working in line with what they promised in their manifesto.

"In the last year, the government has trained 390,000 youths on digital skills. We have created 120,000 digital jobs in the year that just started," he said on Friday.

"The government has also constructed 3400 kilometres of fibre optics."

Karobia also said the government is working to ensure that the youth is the government's priority in pushing the agenda for national economic growth.

He also lauded the government for advancing the technological infrastructure of the country.

Addressing the online conversation on the creation of digital jobs, the MP said that Kenyans can monetise videos that they create online and earn in dollars.

"I have been seeing many videos of people online making fun of the statements that the president has made regarding the digital space. The irony is that the people making these videos are making dollars by monetising those same videos," Karobia said.

According to the legislator, the government is committed to delivering the promises made on developing the digital economy.

He reiterated the president's remarks that the government will build digital hubs in every ward across the country.

"The Ministry of ICT should create more sensitisation to change the mindset that people don't necessarily need to find jobs in the public sector, but they can create jobs in the digital space," the EALA MP said.
