Tata Wekesa, a teacher at St Augustine Academy is currently seeking to break a Guinness World Record of the longest Science lesson taught by an individual.
The lesson, currently underway at the Multimedia University of Kenya, has been scheduled to go on for 60 hours nonstop and is currently past 15 hours.
Wekesa started the lesson on Tuesday, February 13, and she is expected to proceed until Friday, February 16.
The lesson is scheduled to go on for 50 hours but Wekesa intends to extend the lesson by 10 hours.
Wekesa is expected to teach throughout the day and night with the students getting longer and more friendly breaks than her.
The biology and chemistry teacher stated in a previous interview with Tuko that she is driven to smash the record because she wants to encourage younger students to pursue science courses.
"I am doing this to encourage young students not to fear science subjects as everything in the world is based on Science. If we don't encourage them to embrace science, we are going to have a problem in future," Wekesa said.
Kenyans have rallied behind Wekesa even as she sought financial support to facilitate the process with former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko acknowledging that she taught her daughter.
"She is dear to my family because she taught my daughter Sandra, who is in London, for further studies. The least I can do is support her venture to set a new Guinness World Record- The longest Science Lesson taught by an individual," Sonko wrote on Instagram.
The lesson is being streamed live on Tata Wekesa's YouTube channel.
