Kenyans streaming in at Chepkorio grounds for Kelvin Kiptum's burial service on February 23, 2024

Kenyans continue to stream into the ASK Chepkorio grounds in Elgeiyo Marakwet for the funeral service of late marathoner Kelvin Kiptum.

Long queues were witnessed at the entrance to the grounds from as early as  of 7 am.

Hundreds of police officers have been deployed to the venue to provide security.

There was a brief session for the public to view the body on the grounds.

The body of Kiptum was removed from his Chepsamo home in the morning where it had been preserved overnight.

The hearse carrying the body of the late Kiptum was accompanied by a convoy of vehicles of family members, relatives, security and church leaders from his home to Chepkorio.

International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) president Sebastian Coe has arrived at the venue.

Coe was pictured seated next to Athletics Kenya president Jack Tuwei.

Kiptum’s father Samson Cheruiyot, Widow Asenath Rotich and her two children have also arrived.
