Azimio leader Raila Odinga on Sunday attended the burial ceremony of the late Namibian President Hage Geingob.

The ceremony took place at the Heroes' Acre, where delegations from across the world gathered to bid him the final farewell.

"Delegations from around the globe gathered to honour his illustrious life and accomplishments," the ODM leader said.

Bidding the fallen leader a peaceful rest, Raila added that the event was "a striking reminder of the appreciation for his legacy".

Geingob succumbed to his battle with cancer on February 4, 2024, while receiving medical treatment at a hospital in the capital, Windhoek.

At the time, the 82-year-old leader was surrounded by his wife, Madame Monica Geingos, and children.

He had returned from the United States of America on January 31, 2024, following a two-day novel treatment for cancerous cells.

Geingob had courageously disclosed his diagnosis to the public just a month ago.

Having assumed office in 2015, Geingob was in his second and final term, serving as the chief architect of Namibia's Constitution and a pivotal figure in the liberation struggle.
