First Lady Rachael Ruto has urged women legislators to create an enabling environment for young people in the East African Community to become economically productive.
She further urged them to empower fellow women in the region to contribute to the development of EAC.
Mama Rachel spoke when she hosted women parliamentarians from the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Women's Caucus at State House, Nairobi.

The East African Legislative Assembly bears a critical responsibility to transform the East African Community into a stable, competitive, and sustainable lower-middle-income region by 2030.
Leaders present included Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of EAC Affairs, Republic of Uganda; Anne Itto, Chairperson of the EALA Caucus; Fatuma Ndangiza, Secretary General of the EALA Caucus; and Mwanaisha Chidzuga, Deputy Government Spokesperson of the Republic of Kenya.
