Homa Bay County will play host to this year's Devolution Conference scheduled for August 12–15, 2025.

This will be the first time the lakeside county will be hosting the annual conference last hosted by Uasin Gichu county in August 2024.

"I am pleased to announce that Homa Bay County has been selected as the host for the renowned annual Devolution Conference. We look forward to welcoming you all to the Bay of endless potential and grateful for the opportunity," Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga said.

In a statement on Tuesday, Wanga said the opportunity is a historic milestone, one that underscores the county's pivotal role and remarkable contribution to Kenya's devolution journey.

"This significant event in the devolution calendar will convene key stakeholders in Kenya's devolution process to highlight the county's exceptional accomplishments and advancements in governance, service delivery, and community development," she said.

More than 10,000 delegates are expected to converge in Homa Bay during the summit, providing a groundbreaking experience for Homa Bay residents.

Besides providing a substantial economic boost through increased spending on accommodation, dining, transportation, and other support services, a conference of this magnitude promises to spur infrastructure development that promises lasting benefits for Homa Bay residents.

"It is also a prime opportunity to spotlight Homa Bay's natural wonders, cultural treasures, and tourism gems on a national platform, attracting visitors and investments to our hospitality industry," Governor Wanga said.

The conference, which will this year be in its 11th edition, is organised by the Council of Governors.

Governor Wanga appealed to Homa Bay residents to make the best of the rare opportunity, which she said is dedicated to them for their resilience, aspirations, and future.

"We wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Council of Governors for this recognition and eagerly anticipate showcasing our county's devolution journey. Get ready for a week of enlightening knowledge exchange and dynamic connections with delegates from every corner of our nation," Wanga said.
