Police are looking for a gang that attacked a group of dancers as they walked to showcase their talents on a live TV show.

The group known as Up Steppers Dance Group was headed for a live show at the Standard Group offices off Mombasa Road, Nairobi, when the incident happened on Saturday, May 4.

They were scheduled to attend a live show on KTN that night.

The group of four told police they had alighted at the entrance when two motorcycles pulled there.

According to the victims, one motorcycle carried three pillion passengers while the other had only a rider.

They attacked the group injuring two of them.

One had an injury in the left hand and the other a cut on the hand and thigh.

According to the victims, they were also robbed of mobile phones and an unknown amount of money.

The gang also grabbed a travelling bag containing one pair of leather shoes and two sweaters. The attackers sped off from the scene.

No arrest was made immediately.

The victims were rushed to hospital as the hunt for the attackers went on.

Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said they are making progress in pursuit of the gang.

“These are part of the gang operating using motorcycles that we are pursuing. We hope to get them soon for justice,” he said.

He said they suspect the gang was an opportunistic one and was on the move when they spotted the victims.

He said an operation targeting gangs operating on motorcycles is ongoing.

Meanwhile, a suspected thug was lynched by a mob in a botched robbery in Dandora, Nairobi.

Police and witnesses said a group of four was trying to break into a shop when an alarm was raised alerting a mob on Sunday evening.

The mob cornered one of the suspects as the accomplices managed to escape, police said.

The suspect was stoned to death.

Police discourage mob lynching and term it criminal.

They want suspects to be surrendered to authorities for processing.
