The Kenya Meteorological Department has said Kenyans in select regions expect rainfall over the weekend.

In a statement, Kenya Met said some regions will experience continued rainfall.

According to the Department areas in Nairobi, Western, Lake Victoria and Rift Valley will receive rainfall.

"Continued rainfall is likely over the Central Highlands, including Nairobi, Western Kenya, Lake Victoria Basin, and Rift Valley regions," Kenya Met said.

Met further added that Northwestern Kenya may receive rainfall from Monday, May 20.

On Thursday evening, parts of Nairobi witnessed heavy rainfall resulting in floods and heavy traffic.

The Met Department on Wednesday announced that there will be no severe flooding expected in the coming days though the rains will continue.

The Met Department said this is because the peak of the heavy rainfall was in April.

"The peak of rains was in April, so no severe flooding is likely. Occasional rain is however likely over Western Kenya, parts of the Rift Valley, Central Kenya, and coastal strip," the Met department said.

The weatherman said those wishing to go on vacations and visit game parks can freely do so as the harsh weather is slowly subsiding.

"Game parks should generally be accessible. Enjoy your vacation," the weatherman said.
