Absa Kenya confirms Wilson Murage as company secretary

He has been serving in an acting capacity since October 2023

Absa Kenya has officially confirmed Wilson Murage as the substantive Company Secretary, months after the exit of Loise Gakumo.

In a notice in local dailies, Absa Kenya's Board of Directors said his appointment is effective, Tuesday, May 28.

The Board, through its chairman Charles Muchene said Murage's appointment followed the end of a competitive recruitment process.

"The Board of Directors of Absa Bank Kenya PLC is pleased to announce that Wilson Kahoro Murage has been confirmed to the role of Company Secretary of Absa Kenya with effect from May 28, 2024, following the conclusion of a competitive recruitment process and receipt of regulatory approvals," Muchene said.

"We take this opportunity to wish Murage continued success in this role," Muchene added.

Prior to this confirmation, Murage served as the Interim Company Secretary since October 2023.

Murage's entry to the role followed the resignation of Gakumo, who had served as Company Secretary for four and a half years, from April 2019.

HE holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree and a Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Trade and Investments Law from the University of Nairobi.

He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with 17 years of experience, a Certified Public Secretary.
