Opinion among Kenyans on the issue of holding hands in public remains highly divided.
The Star sought their views on the matter that has been talk of town the past few days and while some see no issue at all, others think it is wrong and should not even happen.
The discussion arose from President William Ruto's state visit to the United States.
During the visit, Ruto holding Mama Rachel's hand is one act that stood out in all official ceremonies.
Kenyans on social media questioned why that particular aspect had changed, yet back at home that is rarely seen.
On Thursday, at the National Prayer Breakfast, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua cracked up guests as he narrated the 'pressure' President Ruto brought to Kenyan homes by holding Mama Rachel's hand.
The DP said his spouse, Pastor Dorcas, demanded that he emulate the President.
He went on to say that Pastor Dorcas demanded that they hold hands even when in the house and when walking outside.
The Deputy President joked that it was the same case for Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
Gachagua, however, said that upon return to Kenya, the President has since rectified that and no longer holds the First Lady's hand.
He said the pressure has gone down given that he walked to the National Prayer Breakfast without holding the first lady's hand.
