Owalo meets over 10 EU envoys ahead of Nyanza International Investment Conference

Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Eliud Owalo on Friday led the organising committee of the Nyanza International Investment Conference at a working group breakfast with European Union (EU) Ambassadors resident in Kenya.

Owalo said that the discussions focused on attracting foreign investors to the conference.

"As the patron of the Nyanza Professional Forum, I have this morning led the organising committee of the Nyanza International Investment Conference through a working group breakfast with European Union (EU) Ambassadors resident in Kenya," Owalo said.

"This is part of the preparatory process for the conference that will be held at the Ciala Resort in Kisumu from  June 28-29, 2024."

The EU team was led by EU Ambassador Henriette Geiger, ambassadors Roberto Natali(Italy), Caroline Vicini(Sweden), Gentiana Serbu(Romania), and Cristina Diaz(Spain).

Zsoe Meszaros(Hungary), Katarina Zuffa Leligdonova of Slovakia, Machteld Cattrysse(Belgium), Anna Filomena Rocha(Portugal), Pawel Pijanowobi(Poland), Oliver Lichtenger(Austria).

Others were Savvas Vladimirou(Cyprus), Nicol Adamcova(Czech Republic), Alexander Fierley(Germany), Thomas Von Handel, Nilal Valuken and Charlotte Hartusova, Fillipo Anato from the EU Mission, Viola Chelagat of the Netherlands Embassy and Joel Karubu from the Embassy of Estonia.

Jan-Wilken Loha of the European Investment Bank was also present.

The Nyanza International Investment Conference organising committee was represented by the chairman Jalph Olende, lawyer Kennedy Ogeto who is also the legal adviser to the Presidency, Vera Manduku, Kenya’s newly appointed Ambassador to UN-Habitat Grace Okara, Michael Monari, Anyango Ochieng and Kennedy Mohochi.

Owalo is confident that the meeting with EU ambassadors will lead to significant participation of international investors in the event.
