The Law Society of Kenya has said it is keeping a keen watch on today's planned protests.

LSK president Faith Odhiambo urged all protesters to deny any malicious aggressors the opportunity to breach their enjoyment of rights.

"It is fundamental that the Sovereign people of Kenya exercise their right under Article 37 without fear of persecution or unwarranted acts of aggression, " Odhiambo said in a tweet on X.

She called on the protesters to maintain peace and order as they agitate for the rights of all Kenyans.

"We reiterate our stern warning to officers across the country that acts of violence and arbitrariness will be met with strong opposition and personal legal consequences," Odhiambo said.

"We are taking a detailed record of all atrocities being perpetrated contrary to their duty to protect all citizens and will commence necessary legal action against all officers identified acting unlawfully."

The LSK president said their toll-free line remains open to members of the public to report any incidences.

The protests against the Finance Bill took place on Tuesday in the Nairobi CBD.

The demos dubbed Occupy Parliament are set to continue today.

In Nairobi, more anti-riot police were mobilized ahead of the march.

Nairobi police commander Adamson Bungei said he was not aware of any protest as there had been no notification on the same.

He said he had mobilized his troops to address the situation.

The organisers of the protest said they were ready for the peaceful march and that they had met all the requirements.

The organizers are using social media to mobilise and have issued an elaborate plan for the protest against the Finance Bill 2024.
