Several traders are counting losses after their business premises were vandalised by Tuesday's protests over the Finance Bill 2024.

One of the buildings that were vandalised is the iconic  Uganda House that hosts the Embassy of Uganda.

According to traders, the protests were infiltrated by goons who had intentions to vandalise and rob traders of their money and assets.

They said yesterday's protests was phenomenal since his premise has never been vandalised before.

A spot check revealed massive damage at the entry point and empty shelves, an indication that burglars had gained entry into the shops.

The immovable shelves and accessories of insignificant value were not spared either, some were damaged and others were thrown in the streets.

Lawyer Danstan Omari and his staff who were in his office when the fire broke said he was aided to scale down from the fourth floor using a redundant electricity pole next to the building.

"We miraculously escaped from the fourth floor after our office caught fire. It is alleged that tear gas was thrown in one of the ground floor shops," Lawyer Danstan Omari told the press.

The building was under renovation and was due for occupation in the coming weeks.
