KCAA advertises position of director of aviation

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority has advertised a job vacancy for the position of Director of Aviation, Safety and Security Regulations.

In an advertisement published in Tuesday's copy of My Gov, KCAA encouraged female candidates and persons with disabilities to apply.

"Persons with disabilities are required to attach a copy of a valid NCPWD membership card," the Authority said. 

KCAA stated that the candidate must have at least 15 years' work experience in the aviation field and five of those must be in a senior management role.

The officer is also required to have a bachelor's degree in either commerce, economics, business administration, civil aviation management, statistics, mathematics or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution. 

Alternatively, one can present an airline transport license with ratings of large commercial aircraft in Group 1 and at least 5,000 hours of flying experience or an air controller's license with three or more ratings.

One must also have a master's degree in the aforementioned disciplines or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.

The officer is to have good knowledge of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and proven experience in developing national aviation regulations and procedures. 

One should have a certificate in management and leadership course lasting not less than four weeks from a recognised institution.

Further, they should have a membership to a relevant professional body and be in good standing.

The candidates must have strong analytical skills, communication skills, strategic and innovative thinking, strong interpersonal skills, negotiation skills and leadership skills.

The officer will report to the Director General.

KCAA stated that those interested are required to submit their application letters quoting the job reference No. on the envelope and application letter.
