Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called out a section of leaders who he says are arrogant and are helping stoke public outrage against the government.
The DP told the leaders in government that it's incumbent upon them to help President William Ruto succeed in his programmes.
But Gachagua said a section of leaders are instead displaying arrogance and annoying the masses, something he said was undermining the President.
Without mentioning names, the DP said some of the leaders have taken to looking down on Kenyans thereby provoking anger towards the whole government.
"Don't undermine the President and his government by antagonising Kenyans. Wengine wamekuwa na kiburi, wakifungua mdomo watu wanakasirika."
(Some of them have developed arrogance, when they open their mouths people get angry)
"Na hawa watu ndio wanaharibia rais, wanaharibia serikali. Wako na kiburi mingi sana."
(These are the people who are spoiling for the President and the government. They are very arrogant)
Gachagua was speaking during a Sunday service at the PEFA Church Kiamariga, Nyeri county.
He was accompanied by Pastor Dorcas Rigathi.
The DP said leaders who feel satisfied should not start vomiting on Kenyans who are hungry.
He said the government can only succeed if leaders are united to help the President.
Gachagua said as an elected leader, he listens to Kenyans who appointed him.
"I always associate myself with the feelings, views and aspirations of those who have elected me to office. I assist the President in all his work and I continuously listen to Kenyans so that I'm able to make the right decisions," he said.
The DP asked leaders to always put Kenyans at the center of whatever they do to make good progress.
This is not the first time Gachagua has addressed arrogance among a section of leaders.
On June 30, the DP warned Kenya Kwanza politicians against ''displaying opulence and arrogance'' to Kenyans.
He told the leaders that they should respect Kenyans whom he said are their employers.
"I have seen some people have got money and have become arrogant and forgotten where we came from was a difficult journey, this government was formed through prayers and will be sustained by prayers," Gachagua said at Kaplong, Bomet county.
He said it was unfortunate that some Kenya Kwanza leaders had started showing off and disrespecting Kenyans who toiled to ensure victory for Kenya Kwanza in the 2022 elections.
"Let us stop chest thumbing, let us respect the people of Kenya, let's address them with humility and respect," Gachagua told the leaders.
"When we have eaten enough and our stomachs are full, let's not vomit and throw out on Kenyans," he warned.
While addressing Kenyans on X Space on Friday, President William Ruto said he has taken note of some leaders's display of arrogance.
The President said he has on several occasions called and warned them of their behaviour.
"I have a duty to mentor, they will make mistakes, they will exude some arrogance but partly it's because of inexperience," he said, adding that "I sometimes want to take responsibility".
