A protester was nearly abducted on Nairobi's Moi Avenue during Tuesday's demonstrations.

The drama was caught on tape by a motorist driving behind the car in which the protester was being forcefully bundled into.

Footage shared online shows that the incident happened outside Nairobi Sports House on Moi Avenue.

A salon car is seen with its boot fully open as three men try to force the screaming protester inside the vehicle.

Other protesters around started pelting the vehicle with stones and in exactly eight seconds, the would-be abduction victim broke loose as the gang hurriedly got into the vehicle and sped away with the car’s boot still open.

The government has been under criticism after several people went missing during the previous demonstrations after being allegedly abducted.

The government has, however, denied involvement in any abduction.

Tuesday’s protests were called by the organisers to primarily pile pressure on the government to take accountability for the people who lost their lives during the protests, and those still missing.

The government has admitted that at least 25 people died. However, the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) put the death toll at 41 and 360 injuries.

Activist Boniface Mwangi said on Monday that they will not leave the streets until there’s some form of accountability on the government’s side and restitution for the dead protesters.

“The thing is what we are asking for at this particular stage is justice for the victims, we need compensation for the victims and all the alleged killer cops prosecuted,” Mwangi said while speaking virtually on a town hall dialogue organised by Africa Uncensored.

“Why can’t the President call the families of those who died and apologise because he hasn’t done any of that? The problem we have is that if we leave the streets, he will not listen to us,” he added.
