Nominee for Lands and settlement Cabinet Secretary Alice Muthoni Wahome answers questions during her vetting in Parliament on August 1, 2024

Lands Cabinet Secretary nominee Alice Wahome has, in a light moment, urged the National Assembly Committee to adopt her response.

Appearing before the Committee on Thursday, Wahome said she is jobless, a challenge that she has not faced in over a decade.

"I am jobless and I need the job. Since 1985 this is one unique moment that I am jobless," she said as she thanked the Committee for having her.

During her appearance, she disclosed that she is worth Sh327,650,000, wealth between her and her husband.

Wahome explained that the increase in net worth was a result of her properties appreciating in value.

She added that a tenant who owed her also paid a lump sum of around Sh14 million in March.

Earlier, Wahome said she has the right attitude to carry out her work as a minister as she takes pride in working within the team.

"I'm a team worker, I'm a hard worker, I believe in hardwork and I have the right attitude to carry out my work as a minister," she said.

She said as a lawyer, she understands some aspects of the ministry she is nominated for, for example in the State Department for Lands.

She said she is competent, and has, in the past, been exposed to some challenges there which she hopes to overcome with the support of the Parliament.

Wahome held the post as the CS for lands from October 5, 2023, to July 11, 2024.
