ODM Party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has affirmed the unity of all Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition parties.

He urged Kenyans to disregard naysayers and called on leaders to stop spreading falsehoods.

"Vyama vyote tazu vya Azimio viko pamoja, vimeungana. Hakuna mgogoro ndani ya muungano mzima wa Azimio," he said.

This is easily translated to, "All parties in Azimio party are united. There is no push and pull in the entire coalition."

He said they are committed to continue taking up their mandate as the minority party in the Parliament.

Sifuna said he will always inform the media of any changes or plans in the ODM party.

This comes after reports emerged that some leaders allegedly wanted former President Uhuru Kenyatta to convene an urgent meeting to remove Raila Odinga.

This was following his alleged deal with President William Ruto, with the leaders saying it was untenable for Raila and his ODM party to remain in the coalition.

The leaders included Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Peter Munya (PNU), Eugene Wamalwa (DAP-Kenya) and Jeremiah Kioni (Jubilee).

"Those who want to join the government should do so formally. This is the restructuring we are advocating for. This meeting must occur within the next 14 days," Munya said.

Munya said they want to do a grand house cleaning to position the party for the next general election.

"Azimio is a house that we all built. We want to clean that house instead of building another house. The only way to clean it is to ensure that if there is anybody who wants to be in government, let him go there," he said.

Besides being the Jubilee party leader, Uhuru is also the Azimio council chairman with Raila as the coalition’s leader.

The development comes after President William Ruto picked ODM's top leaders for Cabinet positions.

The President nominated Raila’s two deputies – Hassan Joho (Mining and Blue Economy CS) and Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives and MSMEs) – to the Cabinet.

Ruto also nominated ODM chairman John Mbadi as National Treasury CS and National Assembly Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi as Energy CS.
