Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has reaffirmed his commitment to support youth initiatives.
In a statement just days after he took office, Murkomen said he would engage the youth to ensure they are well-informed, empowered and ready to drive national development.
He said the government will focus on climate action, agriculture, health, governance and the creative industry to engage the youth.
"On this International Youth Day, I reaffirm my commitment to supporting youth-led initiatives such as NYOTA (National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement), the National Youth Council and others that aim to enhance the livelihoods of our young people and propel our nation to new heights," he said.
The CS said this year's International Youth Day theme aligns with the digital superhighway initiative under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
He added that the government's agenda acknowledges the crucial role of youth in shaping the country's digital future.
The year's theme is "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development".
The NYOTA initiative is focused on enhancing job acquisition for young people through skilling, entrepreneurship development and promoting a culture of saving to de-risk their livelihoods.
NYOTA project involves State departments of Youth, Labor and MSMEs development.
Other government initiatives to support the youth include the National Youth Service, Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF) and Youth Employment Scheme Abroad (YESA).
