A gang of thugs broke into a private home in Parklands, Nairobi and stole Sh800,000 and other assorted goods.

The gang also grabbed assorted jewellery, a HP laptop, a Lenovo laptop, two Casio wristwatches, two mobile phones and other goods, police and the homeowners said.

The family had gone to a temple for prayers on Saturday evening when the incident happened at an apartment on Ita Road.

The gang ransacked two master bedrooms and stole the cash and valuables before escaping.

Police who visited the scene suspect the gang had prior information on the cash and the valuables.

The hunt for the suspected thieves is ongoing, police said.

Elsewhere in Githunguri, Kiambu County, one George Kamau Njoroge, 25 was lynched by a mob after he snatched a mobile phone from a pedestrian.

The victim died at the Githunguri Catholic Hospital.

Cases of mob lynching have been on the rise amid calls on the public to surrender suspects to authorities for processing and possible prosecution.

Police say up to three cases are reported daily.

And along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway near Rupa Mall in Eldoret town, a gang raided and robbed a petrol station of 42 assorted gas cylinders.

The gang raided the Shell petrol station on Saturday night and terrorized attendants on duty before escaping with the 25 full gas cylinders of 13 kilograms and 17 cylinders of six kilograms.

The attendants said they were on duty when a group of about six men driving in a Toyota Noah registration not captured came to the station.

They requested water from one of the security guards who was on patrol to cool their vehicle engine.

They then grabbed and subdued the security guards forced them inside the generator room and tied them using sisal ropes on the legs and arms.

The suspects then broke into the gas cages and stole the cylinders before driving off to an unknown destination.
