The Kenya Airports Authority has apologised for the inconvenience caused by the workers strike at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

KAA acting CEO Henry Ogoye in a statement on Wednesday assured that the authority will work to restore normalcy.

"We regret any inconvenience caused and appreciate the public's patience and understanding during this period," Ogoye said.

This is after operations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport were paralysed on Tuesday night and Wednesday after a section of aviation workers went on a go-slow.

The workers were protesting within the Airport carrying placards.

In the statement, KAA has accused striking aviation workers of disobeying the court.

Ogoye said the aviation workers who are on a go-slow over the JKIA-Adani deal had paralysed operations at the airport, which is a main gateway to the country.

“Early this morning, a section of unionisable airport workers at JKIA engaged in a strike contrary to the court directive case number. As of 7:00 am, minimal operations had resumed,” Ogoye said.

Ogoye encouraged passengers to reach out to their respective airlines to confirm their departure status.

The strike, which began Tuesday night has affected both domestic and international flights.

Passengers were left in long queues with limited assistance available from airport staff.

Those who spoke to the Star said they had not been provided with any information on the time their flights had been rescheduled to.

“I was supposed to fly to the UK at 8 am but now I have no idea when I will be able to leave.
