Police are investigating an incident in which suspected thugs broke into the private hospital Mediheal Hospital in Eldoret and stole equipment.

According to police and the management, the said robbery took place on Wednesday morning.

The said thieves accessed the theatre room at the facility and escaped with equipment valued at Sh3 million.

Staff reporting to work said they found the door to the room half open.

He later found the ultrasound machine, diathermy machine, and two neuroscope machines missing.

It is not clear who was behind the incident that insiders said had affected work.

Police who visited the scene established that the door was not locked the previous day but was not broken.

No arrest has been made so far in connection with the incident.

The detectives suspect an inside job in the incident and vowed to make arrests and possible recoveries.

The officers said the motive of the stealing was to make quick money and warned anyone who may buy the property of dire consequences.

A team of detectives is investigating the incident and has so far talked to some of the staff at the facility.

The hospital is facing a myriad of challenges including staff strikes and exodus over salary delays and a drastic drop in the number of patients visiting the facility.

Many link the challenges at the facility to bad politics in the area.

It has been struggling with challenges amid pleas from workers there to salvage it.

Mediheal operates 10 hospitals in major towns including Nairobi, Kakamega, Eldoret, Nakuru and in Kigali, Rwanda.

It has more than 1,000 employees who have been pleading for help to stabilize the facility owned by politician Swarrup Mishra.
