Light aircraft crashes at Nairobi National Park

The pilot, an aviation student sustained injuries following the accident.

A Cessna 152, registration number 5Y-PSJ / 15283169 has crashed at the Nairobi National Park.

The plane, which went down some minutes past 12 pm, was operated by West Rift Aviation School.

The pilot, an aviation student sustained injuries during the accident.

After the aircraft crashed, a rescue team was immediately dispatched to the scene and helped retrieve those trapped under the wreckage.

This comes days after another light aircraft belonging to Z Boskovic Air Charters veered off the runway while attempting to take off at Lichota Airstrip in Migori County.

The company said in a statement the Cessna Caravan plane had 10 passengers and one crew member on board at the time of the Monday incident.

"At approximately 12:30 pm today, we received notification that our aircraft, registration number 5Y-ZBW, was involved in a major incident during takeoff in Migori," the company said.

The company said there were no injuries or fatalities following the unfortunate aviation incident.
