A team of detectives confiscated marijuana valued at Sh14,160,000 in the Ririba area of Migori County.

The seizure occurred when police officers from the Piny Oyie police station intercepted a suspicious vehicle along Kopanga Mubachi Road, believed to be transporting illegal drugs.

Upon noticing the police, the driver attempted to flee, prompting a chase to apprehend the suspect.

Police say the driver lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road, and landed in a ditch.

"The suspect quickly abandoned the vehicle and managed to evade arrest," police said.

The detectives searched the vehicle and recovered suspected narcotic drugs weighing 472kgs with a street value of Sh14,160,000.

Police said they also recovered another different number plate in the vehicle. The motor vehicle was towed to the station for further action.

Police said the recovered narcotics are being kept as exhibits. The investigation is still ongoing to arrest the suspect.
