The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has notified the public that thousands of number plates and logbooks remain uncollected across its offices.

In a statement by NTSA’s Director General, motor vehicle owners' companies, dealers and financial institutions are to collect reflective number plates and logbooks from the centres identified during the application process.

The authority further stated the process for collection requires the return of old plates and previous logbooks, alongside a document for identification.

Additionally, they have set service timelines, with number plates available for collection within seven working days and logbooks in three days.

"We urge all vehicle owners, dealers, and financial institutions to prioritize this task" NTSA said.

"Collecting number plates and logbooks not only fulfils a legal requirement but also promotes road safety and accountability," the authority added.

NTSA said the responsibility lies with the motor vehicle owners to ensure that their vehicle documentation is current and accessible.
