A two-year-old boy died in a fire incident in Pentagon area in Kamkunji, Nairobi on Tuesday night.
His brother aged four, is fighting for his life at the Kenyatta National Hospital after suffering serious burns, police said.
This is after their house caught fire as their mother was away.
The two children were the only ones left in the house when the fire broke out. The cause of the fire is yet to be established, police said.
The remains of the boy were moved to the mortuary as investigations go on.
Elsewhere in Mukurweini area, Nyeri County, a three-year-old boy was killed in a fire incident.
The fire broke out in a house in Ngor village before it spread to two others flattening them.
Police said the Nyeri County fire brigade team responded and the fire was contained but the three houses were completely burnt and nothing was salvaged from therein.
It was then that the remains of the three-year-old boy were discovered in the debris.
Police said the victim was burnt beyond recognition.
The body was moved to Mukurwe-ini Subcounty Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
In another incident, police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in Nairobi River near T-Mall area.
The body was discovered by mechanics operating in the area.
It is believed the man was killed and dumped at the site. Police said they are also investigating the possibility of drowning in the incident.
The body of a middle-aged adult was retrieved and moved to the City mortuary awaiting postmortem and identification.
Elsewhere, a suspect was lynched by a mob in Rachuonyo, Homa Bay County.
The incident happened in Kobuya village and the man was attacked and killed on the allegations that he was a rapist.
Police officers proceeded to the scene and found the man with multiple injuries.
He was rescued and taken to Gendia Hospital where he succumbed to injuries on arrival. The body was moved to the hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
Police have discouraged mob lynching terming it criminal.
