The high cost of living remains the key issue that most Kenyans want addressed as a matter of priority, a new survey by research firm Infotrak shows.
In the survey conducted across all eight regions, 40 per cent of Kenyans mentioned this as a major concern, followed by unemployment at 29 per cent.
According to the report, this is the second time in a row the two have featured prominently this year.
Access to quality and affordable healthcare also came in third at 27 per cent as a matter of concern to Kenyans.
The regions that reported the high cost of living as a matter of concern was North Eastern (51 per cent), Western (50 percent), and Nairobi (43 per cent).
On unemployment, North Eastern also took the lead, rated at 45 per cent by the respondents while Nyanza had the highest score of 36 per cent for access to quality and affordable healthcare.
“Furthermore, the survey found that more females (42 per cent) than males (37 per cent) reported the high cost of living as their concern,” the report states.
Respondents aged 46-55 years gave a high rating (47 per cent) on the high cost of living.
Other issues that Kenyans raised are corruption (26 percent), transport, infrastructure and roads (22 percent), access to quality and affordable education (17 percent), over taxation (17 percent), access to clean water (8 percent) and extra-judicial killings (8 percent)
The poll was conducted through computer assisted telephone interviews.
