Two people were killed in
separate road accidents in Langata and Embakasi in Nairobi.
In Langata along Southern by-pass
a vehicle driven by a man identified as Paul Muchina was travelling from Kikuyu
towards Mombasa Road when the driver lost control.
Police say the vehicle veered
off the road, crashing into a guard wall on the left side of the road,
resulting in significant damage to the vehicle and occupants.
Unfortunately, one passenger identified
as Jonathan Mbithi, died on the spot due to the impact, police said.
Mbithi’s body was moved from the scene and
taken to City Mortuary, awaiting postmortem.
The driver, Muchina, sustained
serious injuries in the accident and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for
medical treatment.
As of now, details regarding his
current status and recovery are unknown, police said.
Following the accident, Langata
police station officers assessed the circumstances surrounding the incident,
collected evidence, and spoke to witnesses.
The vehicle was towed from the
site and detained for further inspection as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police say they are continuing to
gather information and analyse factors such as vehicle maintenance and driver
behaviour.
According to the police, the case remains open and is
pending further investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding
this tragic event.
Elsewhere the driver of a lorry travelling
from the CBD towards Mlolongo lost control and crashed into a
bridge pillar on the left side of the road on Tuesday, at 5:30 AM.
According to police, the lorry driven
by 35-year-old John Gacheru veered off the road and collided with a bridge
pillar on the left side, resulting in serious damage.
Gacheru sustained multiple
injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Embakasi police station officers arrived
to assess the situation, taking necessary action to secure the area.
His body was moved from the scene and taken to
City Mortuary, awaiting autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
The lorry was towed from the
scene and is currently detained for inspection as part of the ongoing
investigation into the accident.
