A delegation from the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC) has arrived in the country for the start of a three-day tour.
The team led by Li Xi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline arrived Saturday night.
They were received by UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migosi, and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.
Others are Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing'oei, UDA Treasurer Japheth Nyakundi and Belgut MP Nelson Koech.
They are in the country at the invitation of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
Li is set to tour the party's headquarters today and hold bilateral talks with senior officials. Key agreements on areas of cooperation between the two ruling parties are set to be signed.
On Monday, he is also scheduled to meet President William Ruto at State House before wrapping up the visit.
Li will later visit Italy and South Africa.
The visit to the country follows a heightened engagement between UDA and CPC.
In May, a team from the UDA toured Beijing on a benchmarking mission. UDA aims to draw insights from the CPC as it sets a goal to register 20 million members over the next two years and establish a lasting presence.
This is part of its efforts to build the party for Ruto's reelection in 2027.
It currently operates from Ngong Road after relocating from Hustler Centre in Kilimani.
National Executive Director Nicodemus Bore told the Star in a previous interview that they have already identified some parcels of land in Nairobi where they intend to have the structure.
“At the moment, we do not have the design of the building, but we have an idea of how it should look like.
Among the features is the school of leadership to train young party leaders,” Bore said.
CPC is the founding and sole ruling party of the People's Republic of China (PRC).
It has governed the country since 1949.
