President
William Ruto has called on leaders to put politics behind them and focus on working
for the Kenyans.
Speaking at a church service at African Divine Church in Nairobi, the President said Kenyans in leadership positions should put politics aside and concentrate on serving citizens.
“I ask those who have the opportunity to lead Kenyans, Let us put politics aside. What happened is behind us, let us now unite,” he said.
Ruto thanked leaders who spoke at the event for pleading with politicians to unite.
“I thank those who have spoken here for asking the leadership of the country to unite. Raila Odinga agreed to work with me and unite the country. We agreed to drive the country forward without caring about political affiliations,” he said.
The President noted that the manifesto of Kenya Kwanza and that of Azimio have some similarities.
“Azimio’s manifesto has a housing programme, Kenya Kwanza has it as well. Azimio had a health programme, and Kenya Kwanza has too. Why can we unite and implement what our manifestos outline so that Kenya can grow,” he posed.
Meanwhile, Ruto announced that the Northern Collector Tunnel was complete.
“We have had water problem in Nairobi and the good news is that the Northern Collector Tunnel is now complete. More water is coming to Nairobi meaning Kibera and Langáta areas will now be okay,” he said.
The Northern Collector Tunnel is part of the Nairobi Water Master Plan, which aims to improve water access to over 1.2 million residents by providing an additional 140 million litres of clean water per day.
The construction of the water transmission pipelines is largely complete.
Nairobi will receive 136,500 cubic meters of water daily, while other counties, including Murang’a, Kiambu, Machakos, and Kajiado, will also see significant improvements in water distribution.
The project is a key milestone in enhancing water supply for the Nairobi Metropolitan region and beyond.
