President William Ruto has mourned the late Mark Wainana who passed away Wednesday after a long illness.
Wainana, the former Murang'a County Assembly UDA nominated MCA, is said to have died while undergoing treatment in hospital.
He had been diagnosed with a pulmonary disease that is said to have caused his lungs to fail.
In a post, Ruto said Wainana was a hardworking and promising leader.
“Mark Wainaina, the nominated Member of the County Assembly of Murang'a, was friendly, witty and with immense potential that inspired the growth of the UDA Party,” Ruto said.
“Our thoughts are with the family and all those who knew him at this sad time. Rest In Peace Mheshimiwa,” he added.
Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang'ata had on Tuesday shared a post on his official page informing the public about a planned fundraiser for Wainaina's medical bills scheduled for this Friday.
The fundraising was to be held at a hotel in Nairobi.
