Over 360,000 videos were removed from TikTok in Kenya in the three months of April, May and June alone (Quarter 2) for violating community guidelines, the social media platform has said.
This is part of the efforts by TikTok to enforce its community guidelines across Kenya.
Tiktok in its Q2 2024 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report released on Wednesday said a total of 60,465 were banned for violating TikTok's community guidelines.
According to the report, the videos taken down in Kenya accounted for 0.3 per cent of the total videos uploaded during the reporting period.
"Key findings show that 99.1 per cent of these videos were proactively removed before users reported them, with 95 per cent taken down within 24 hours," the report shows.
Globally, the social media platform said it removed over 178 million videos in June 2024 alone, with 144 million of those removed through automation.
"These technical advancements significantly reduce the volume of content that human moderators need to review, thereby minimising their exposure to violative material," it said in the report.
"With a proactive detection rate now at 98.2 per cent globally, TikTok is more efficient than ever at addressing harmful content before users encounter it."
It said with over a billion users and millions of pieces of content posted daily, it continues to invest in advanced technologies that enhance content understanding and assess potential risks.
It said the innovations allow the platform to detect and remove harmful content before it reaches viewers.

The report also disclosed that 60,465 accounts were banned during this period, with 57,262 accounts suspected to belong to users under the age of 13.
