Two die by suicide in Taita Taveta and Nyeri

Police are probing the death of two people who have died by suicide in separate incidents in Taita Taveta and Nyeri County.

The first incident happened in Taita Taveta where a 62-year-old man identified as Tobias Mwamburi died by suspected suicide in his house

According to police, Mwamburi was found dangling from the rooftop along the corridor of his house.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased lived alone.

Police say the body had no visible injuries

According to police at the scene, a search was conducted and a suicide note was recovered in which he said goodbye to his siblings.

Officers from Mwatete Police Station processed the scene and the body was moved to Moi County Referral Hospital mortuary pending autopsy.

In Mbiriri, Nyeri County a wife reported that her husband died by suicide.

The man who police identified as Charles Mathenge aged 49 years died by allegedly hanging himself on a rafter using a sisal rope.

Police say the motive is still unknown and no suicide note was recovered.

Police officers from  Narumoru police processed the scene and collected evidence needed for further investigations

Mathenge’s  body was moved to Karatina Level 4 Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem

Elsewhere, police are looking for two suspected thugs who raided a home in a robbery and attacked a family before escaping with a television set in Kabarnet, Baringo County.

During the November 12 night incident, the gang raped a 19-year-old housegirl who was present, police said.

It is said the two armed robbers forcibly gained access to the residence through the main door.

Police say the family sustained injuries that required immediate medical attention.

 Following the assault, the robbers proceeded to steal a 32-inch TCL television, police said.

After the robbers fled the scene, officers arrived at the location shortly thereafter to process the crime scene and collect any potential evidence.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The case remains open, and police are working to identify the suspects involved in the crime.
